Theme Inspiration
Mezen Style
The mezen style is one of the oldest styles which originated along the mezen river.
It is very ornate with graphic forms of nature in palettes of red and black. It is full of symbolism, include woodland animals, like horses, deers, squirrels and birds. It also included scenes of Russian mythology. The red rooster painted on the second doll from the right symbolises good harvest and prosperity. It also embodies love, marriage and prosperity.
North Dvina
This particular style originated from the south of Mezen in the North Dvina river. This style is very similar to the Mezen design with its black outlines, flat colours and prominent use of red and black with green and yellow with motifs of plants and animals. The black outlines may vary in thickness which represents the lyrical flow of the design.

WGSN: Future Trends
We hopped onto the WGSN website and found some future trends that coincides with our collection. Heavily adorned patterns of mandala and floral motifs was one of the future trends which can be applied onto the embroidery for our collection. Wool and fur is also one of the trends which is suitable for our collection because of the winter look that we will be designing.
